Se*y LHT looking for a new home

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    Let's talk...

I have had it, I need to find a new home before the snow flies. She bought me last year and I gave her good miles, and even endured the reconstruction of my front end so she could ride me. Then what happens? She brings home a custom upstart and a mountain bike...and the end result being that she doesn't ride me. I need to feel pavement under my tires, not carpet! I know she feels guilty for not riding me, but that upstart Gunnar has stolen her heart...will you give me a home and ride me?

    How can you resist this?

I have 2 inch Easton Monkey Bars with Ergon grips and bar-ends with tape that matches my svelte 46cm frame and a TT of 508.4 mm and an effective TT length of 515mm. Ok, ok, so the bar tape has a few dings on it where she bumped the bar-ends a time or two, and the ends of the grips are scuffed up a bit. That just gives me character and shows I can be ridden! There are also a couple of places where my beautiful blue frame was scratched and she covered these places with a very close to matching fingernail polish.

    As you can see here
I have a triple chain, my 9-speed cassette is 11-34, pedals are SunRingle Zuzu BMX pedals. The trigger shifters are special Shimano shifters that work well with my road triple and my mountain bike cassette. My racks are Blackburn, and I think I overheard her considering selling the SKS P65 fenders to a friend who needs them, it depends on if the fenders will fit her friends bike.

I've also been wired for a Cateye Strada Cadence computer as you can see here (sorry for the huge image). It works pretty well, or at least it used to before she stopped riding me Ok, enough of that!

I am not a standard complete Surly build, she put a lot of money into me to make it possible for her to ride and I am barely broken in. She has a special asking price for TE members, $850 + shipping if you are not on driving distance, if you don't buy me then the Craigslist price will be higher. She knows an awesome bike store who knows how to take me apart and package me for shipping. Believe you me, you want her to pay to pack me, she is clueless about such things. She would also be willing to drive a 6 hour radius from Indianapolis to deliver me directly. Price would drop a bit if she doesn't include my fenders.

More pictures and information available upon request, in a week I go on Craigslist

I hear you...that is why I am doing this! I won't cry if she doesn't sell, but my budget will greatly appreciate it if she does!

Surly: Do I detect a little attitude from you?? Just cuz you've been dumped by some custom Gunnar!!!

I hope you can be adopted really soon. It would be nice if you found a good TE home, cuz we read all about you're original adoption! You're part of the family now.

And now she's out cracking her back in the woods with a mountain bike! Really you don't stand a chance!

I think she could go recumbant next year!

Don't take it personal though. She dumped your sister, FX too. I think she must be a real heart breaker!!!

But hey, Remember she just learned to ride a couple of years ago and she has some catchin up to do, adopting all the bikes the rest of us had from age 5 on! She really is awesome and you should be proud to be a part of her accomplishments.

Good luck where ever the future takes you Surly!!!! And hold your head high.

LOL Smittykitty, Ms. Explorer appreciates your comments Seriously, I've mixed feelings about selling her, but it is purely a financial matter. She is the only one on my stable that I am currently not riding...

She is a sweet bike, with attitude! She did get a tune-up in spring and has hardly been ridden since then so she should be in good shape.

After a long talk with Ms. Explorer, she has decided that she wants to stay home after all I really don't WANT to sell her, and frankly, she is so customized that I wouldn't get more than a small percentage of what I've spent on her anyway.

I'm glad you're keeping her. I think it's too soon to give up on her. If you're still not riding her in a year, then you'll know you're really done with her.
