Oh believe me, I am bundled. I've had two naps so far, a mess of chicken soup, it's about time for another Theraflu . Oh, and lots of orange and grapefruit juice. Sorry jo - no vodka for this sick snap

Well since Brandi brought up the popcorn fart, I have to say that every time I look at snapdragen's avatar and read the title "popcorn fart" I think that little girl is making that expression because she's trying to force a fart out. Push!

    Me too!!!

As for illness, get well soon, all sickies out there.

Here's a medical reminder, more recent studies (double blind all that good stuff, not anecdotal info) show that all that crap in the cough medicines does nothing. Or very very close to nothing. (depending on which ingredient we're talking about).
On the other hand, a good study showed that homemade chicken noodle soup did actually speed recovery. The stuff in the can wasn't tested.

And finally, have you guys ever heard of a neti pot? It's an old old indian contraption that costs about $12-15 on-line and flushes the sinuses with plain old salt water. It probably does more for a cold than all the alkaseltzer out there combined. My patients swear by it. It completely gets rid of all sinus pressure and congestion. If nothing else, it is definitely safe, which is not something you can say for all those meds. The one side-effect it is missing is the sleep. I know benedryl knocks me unconscious, which when I feel sick is a wonderful thing
    Get well!

Here are some of the zillions of places you can find one.

Dudettes, y'all need to watch more cartoons! It's Buttercup from the Powerpuff girls - she's a total arse-kicker. Too funny about the farting though (yeah, I'm eight on the inside).

    P.S. Get well soon, snap.

I use a neti pot every day, and it does a lot of good. Learning how to use it can be a little unsettling. Just remember to breathe out of your mouth and to tilt your head far enough that the water comes out your opposite nostril.

Since I started flushing my sinuses, I've had only one bad cold. I've also been able to give up Claratin-D.

I use a neti pot also, guess it doesn't do much for the flu though. Temp is down today, still not "normal"but better than 101+. At least I don't ache as much as I did.

    Snap;

Lay low and take care of yourself. I walked around with a cold for weeks and then last weekend ended up with what they called "community aquired pneumonia" been flat on my back. Had to postpone a vacation to go and see my sister because my oxygen level was too low to fly... Anyways drink lots, (non alch), eat good, get papmpered and find some new bike magazines
to read. DH just came thru the door with the new Bicycling

    hugs,
    karen

Yeah, I think you're right massbike - as much as I hate it! I'm supposed to go see The Lion King tonight with my sister. The grownup in me says give my ticket to my niece. I hate being a grownup.

I had community-acquired pneumonia last July- I was sicker than you-know-what, missed two weeks of work, lost 12 pounds. I have never been so sick in my life! But I _did_ find my Corn Snake, Maizey, when I was out in the yard in a feverish stupor trying to compensate for not being at work by doing yard work with a 104F temp! So that was a good thing. And the 12 pound weight loss gave me the incentive to actually diet and exercise.

Who would have known that the first sign of pneumonia (for some!) can be stabbing back pain! BTW, I was _not_ sick, or run-down, or anything other than perfectly healthy when I got pneumonia. It's just out there- anyone can get it.

so how ya feeling today snap? do we still get to shoot you?? or are you gonna live for another year??

I'm sorry to hear your sick, my dad just left to go back home and he was coughing pretty bad his whole stay....bless his heart.

I'll have to look into the neti pot for my sinuses but I've been taking colloidial silver this winter and have managed to escape everything except the outside temp!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
