Took us 7 days to finish the Trace southward (Nashville to Natchez). It was pretty tough since we had a stiff headwind most days (maybe all the stormy/tornado type-weather in the area?). In retrospect though, we were pretty lucky -- managed to dodge all the tornadoes, and were always close to towns with hotels when storms hit. We passed (driving) through Tuscaloosa 2 days after it got hit and saw a bit of the destruction (trees and signs down along the highway). The worst part was closed down to all but the military.
