that's pretty cool! I give them kudos for aiming at the commuter market. I like the jacket!

Just noticed this: http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp...05630.11844101
Geared toward a shorter commute than I have to work, but maybe for riding to the store. I think it looks pretty good for that.
They have skinny commuter jeans, too. No chamois. Stretchy fabric, reinforced stitching, reflective details, weather proofing, and a loop for a U lock is what makes them "commuter".

I won't care until they start making commuter clothes for women, too. Boo for them only making these for dudes.

It's a start, yes.
I just felt really let down. Saw an article about these not too long ago, got all excited, went to the Levis site and was like, oh. I see how it is. Not to be all debbie downer, but for some reason the lack of a women's line got to me on this one.
Perhaps I'm just feeling extra boxed in by the boys' club in general lately.* Why take it out on Levis? They're just a company trying to make a buck. There was probably a good deal of market research that went into the decision to launch with only men's commuter clothes. And anything encouraging more cyclists, especially bike commuters, is a good thing.
Still, I can't help but be grouchy. At least a little.

Apparently Levis doesn't think women ride bikes.

Jean jackets, a blast from the past. I really wanted one back in H.S. Then when I got one, it wasn't that warm. What a jean jacket has to do with bike commuting is beyond me.![]()

I had one in jr. high. It got stolen from my locker by a rich girl right before she moved away (several people ratted her out, but she was already in another state, so there was nothing I could do). I saved babysitting money for that for a long time. I am still pretty PO'd about that. Rich folks taking from the rest of us...can I blame her for my strongly democratic tendencies...?![]()

Ah, I have a jean jacket and so does my DH.
I consider it to be a classic. It's cropped and stylish. I wear it in the spring or early fall when I don't need something heavy.

I wonder if that "skinny fit" will fit a guy who has muscular legs from cycling or just posers.
it does strike me as odd that there isn't something like that for women.

Pretty dark for commuting. I prefer something more visible. I do have a jean jacket. I got it at a thrift store. It's pretty cool. I always wanted one in high school but never got one. I always wanted a black leather motorcycle jacket, too. I still haven't gotten one of those...yet.
Dude those skinny jeans are the jam. I ride in some women's 515s? that have spandex in them during the winter. Keep going Levi's I'm interested in what's happening here.

Hah. I got a denim jacket from the farm store a few years ago. I wear it to protect my arms from brambles when I'm berrying or driving the mower. But it soaks up sweat just as you'd expect heavyweight cotton would, and I can't imagine doing anything very active in it. When I come back into the house I have to hang it on a peg to dry out ... there's no hanging it in the closet like that!
Zoom-zoom, that s*cks. The Levi's jacket I had in high school was almost the opposite of your story. I'd embroidered mine, and when we moved away I traded it with a friend for her Lee jacket. I still have that one to remember her and those times by, though I don't wear it much any more.
