Thanks everyone...my mind is set on getting a pair now.

I think I will go with the integrated ones that have the bar ends.

They have several styles so make certain you try them. Several have quite short/stubby bar-ends which might be too small. I have small hands and they are too small...

I really like the ones with the longest rubberized grips. They are not too large for my hands and I do feel more secure with them on my mountain bike. I feel they help protect my hands. They won't work with grips though...we have discussed them in a recent thread - I can't get to the site just now to get the name of this set.

My experience is they aren't comfortable. But amongst my friends that ride it is pretty much love/hate. If you love them, you REALLY love them. I just wasn't a fan myself.

I'm not a fan either. When i am off road on my MTBs, I want to have my hand wrapped around the bars for max control, not resting on them. it makes no sense to me.

I love the Lizard Skins Moab grips and ODI Ruffians, but my new fave is the Crank Brothers foam lock on grips- they really tame the vibrations and are very lightweight. I only use grips that lock onto the bar on both ends to eliminate twisting or worse yet- the grip coming of in your hand as you ride (which can lead to a very bad day).

    Hmmmm.... Good point

I may have to try the crank brothers grips. I do have a set of lock on grips but, feel they are too thin for me. Then again maybe I just need a different pair of gloves.

Perhaps this is different for each person. My fingers ARE wrapped around the bars - it is the heel of my hands that rest on the grip - and this position keeps my hands from hurting. Round bar grips just put me in too much pain...
