Thanks so much for the responses. It's like we've had babies or something. Taking photos, fawning over them....Mostly they're getting used to each other and to us. They were not in a group "cattery" room together, so they had never known each other until living here. Initially we've set them each up in their own room and they were allowed to get used to us in their own "safe spaces" for a day or so. Then when it seemed that they were both relaxed, we let each one out of it's room to check out most of the rest of the house (we did this one at a time). Finally we allowed them to meet. Mila walked right up to Violet as if to say "Hi. My name is Mila. I like you!", however Violet was a little more reserved and hissed and growled a bit even at 6' apart. So whenever they're out in the main part of the house they are supervised. No issues yet and Violet has essentially quit hissing and actually was play chasing Mila this morning. They touch noses, use each other's litter boxes, share each other's food. Eventually they will eat together and their litter boxes will be in one location. However, it's only been 5 days, so we're taking it slowly. They both have good appetites, use their litter boxes consistently, respond to their names, and are settling in well. After much research regarding food, we're going with Wellness Core "Fish & Fowl"-their new formula. They are taking to it well. So all in all a good fit so far.
    I'll keep you posted.

Congrats on adopting two new kitties!

Of our three (all females) we have a tabby (black and gray), a tortishell and a calico. Ariel is our Torti and anything you read that says they act like the own everything, she is very much that way. She also is my husband's cat and gets very jealous if one of the other cats decides to jump on his lap to get some attention. She is the one that sleeps with us. Somewhere, somehow, she learned how to tap us. She will slightly extend her claws and actually tap you with them to get your attention. She does it lightly to where you feel it, but will not hurt at all. She is very bossy. My mom learned that when our cats stayed with my parents for a couple of months when we moved across state.

That's what I've read about tortoiseshell cats. I'm keeping an open mind.

Our three don't get along with each other that well, but no real cat fights at most just hissing and growling at each other. We also got them all at different times.

    Very cute kitties!!

Wellsness is a really good brand of cat food. We feed our ten cats cans of wellness and dry as well. They mostly like chicken flavor, occasional herring and chicken, beef, beef and chicken... We go through many many cases of big cans every month

You are being very cautious and being very safe with the cats. The kitties have a very loving home

Oh, I love your new babies! They are beautiful. That poor 9 month old to have already had kittens, though...oh, she's like a little teenage mama!

We have a tortie. Our Lola is going on 18 and is as sweet as can be. She has really mellowed over the years, though she's always been pretty mild-mannered and sweet. She is such a lover, but even at her advanced age is quite mischievous. She loves to get up on the kitchen counters and lick anything she can. She's hyperthyroid, so she's hungry ALL THE TIME, even on meds.

I just wanted to say - how tiny they are! I got both of my cats when they were a little older and I don't think I've ever seen either of them under 10 pounds. They're adorable Have fun fawning over them!
