Ha, that was what happened with my test ride on the Dolce. I said I'd wanted carbon, but they didn't have a Ruby in my size to test. "We can order it for you, and there are options for financing or layaway..."

Yep, the allure of financing or layaway is how I came to get my lovely Gunnar, and later, my Jamis...

The Koolaid has entered my bloodstream ;-)

I fended him off by explaining that we are buying a house and the closing date is in 2 weeks. His grin changed to a mere smile and he said: "Oh, congradulations" [notice the lack of explanation point]

Now I just have to keep reminding MYSELF of that!

I haven't bought a house in 10 years, so correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a new bike be a perfect accessory to that new garage of yours?

It has a lovely 2-car garage which my DH and I agree will only be used for 1 car + the 11 bikes we have in the family now!

But none of them are Carbon.....mmmmmmm.... Carbon....

No! I must resist the collective force of you enablers manifesting a beautiful new Specialized Ruby in my Garage!

    Carbon.......mmmmmmmmm.. Carbon

Those evil bike store guys. I casually asked how much a full carbon road bike might set me back, with 105 componentry. Ended up spending around NZ$1000 more than the first bike I looked at after I got shown a sexy sexy Giant with full Ultegra. Still love her though and don't regret buying her at all! Nothing like coming home with a grin on my face thinking "I love my bike".

    I think I squeaked..."student loans...!" He laughed.

To add to the enablers - You know, you mentioned having 11 bikes. Is there maybe one or two you might be interested in selling to offset the cost of a pretty new carbon bike?? Just a thought.
