Thank you, everyone. It means a lot.

There is some good news--Granny's drinking again, though she's having a hard time swallowing (as much a consequence of the dementia and mini-strokes as much as the coughing). Her bloodwork's in pretty good shape too.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I'm sorry--this made me laugh out loud. I've had a very hard day with a very sick friend, and I needed a laugh. Thank you, even though it's not what you meant. I am sorry for your Granny and your great aunt.

Owlie, I so sorry about your great aunt but am happy to hear that your grandma is doing better. Hang I there.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

You are in my thoughts, & I have to share. My mom passed away in 2007 from mouth cancer. One of the tough things for her was giving up an evening gin and tonic or a gin martini. As she lost her ability to swallow, any liquid went right into her lungs. One of her final attempts at drinking resulted in a major coughing fit and I was giving her hell but now I can look back and smile at her tenacity and desire to keep on keeping on despite what she was going through. So good for Granny! My goal is to hang on to as many pleasures and vices for as long at I can. I wanna be the 80 year old biking across the southern tier
