Those urgent care/medical aid places are awesome. Depending on your insurance, they can be waaaaaaaaay cheaper. (And yes, DH and I are both well acquainted with them)
Beware though - if the urgent care is affiliated with a hospital (which in a lot of semi-rural areas, that's all there is), they will bill as the ER. I didn't know that, so it cost me $600 for a minor rash last year... (I shouldn't say that, because I do have insurance. That's what someone with no insurance would've paid.)

Luckily I'm still on my parents' health insurance, so we only paid $100 of it. (Getting them to see that I'm unemployed and don't have other insurance, however...)
