I've tried several and like Assos best but Chamois B'tter, Moo and PBK have also been okay. I also have really sensitive skin and have to be careful.

I don't use anything on the chamois, but for longer rides I use a little Eucerin Aquaphor directly on my bits. It's a skin ointment rather than a chamois cream, and I always have it around for general skin use (chapped or cracked skin). I have found it works great for riding, too.

I once applied sunscreen by mistake and it worked fine!

LOL- been there, done that! more than once.
I also like bag balm (used on cows udders to prevent infection) and the other one whose name I can't remember that comes in a black and white cow patterned plastic tub. Unfortunately I can't find that one around here, and bag balm is only found occasonnally so Butt Btr (purple and yellow tube) is my go to. They also make individual packets that are handy to toss in a jersey pocket for reapplication mid ride as needed.
when in doubt, lube, lube, lube.

Marni, I had thought about Bag Balm, but after reading something about petroleum-based products degrading the chamois foam I decided against it. That's why I stopped using Chamois Butt'r, too.

Could your shorts be a problem? Just asking. I have had shorts that caused me issues and tried other's and now no problems!
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Bliss is AWFUL, it really does cause the girly bits to tingle and worse. I've been told the men's version is stronger
I use either Chamois Butt'r or TBS (That Butt Stuff). Both are fine - I have a slight preference for TBS but I have to order it online, the other I can pick up ta my LBS which makes it much easier.
