Rode my bike to breakfast this morning, then took the long way home to get in a couple of hills and a few miles. The weather was gorgeous for that!
Then I got home, saw that my native mason solitary bees had started emerging in their nest boxes- so cute, the males with their little white mustaches! The males emerge first and hang around the boxes like gangs of hormonal teenage ruffians, waiting for the females to hatch out so they can jump them. I did some checking in my honeybee hive (found the queen, she was laying ok), and as soon as I was done it started raining. D'oh!- there go my plans to finish cleaning the post-winter tomato/cucumber bed.![]()
