Glad she loves her new bike. I had been off a bike for years and was really out of shape, and ended up choosing a Townie 3 speed. I soon realized that hills would be a problem, so DH bought a 21 speed Townie. Only time I've ever fallen off a bike and broke my wrist. Personally I never felt stable on the Townie - like the steering was squirrly. I did like the comfort of knowing my feet were closer to the ground.

I ended up buying my current Trek FX 7.3 and like it so much better.

I agree with the other poster that the Townie is an excellent entry or re-entry into the world of biking. I had so many kids and even teen aged boys say, "Your bike is cool".
