My DH is lucky in that he has a very good job where he can be flexible... once he was established there as a good executive, he pretty much does what he wants, if he can. I was always stressed and busy when I was in my thirties and forties, with my job, kids, teaching at the gym. At one point, I was teaching high school, teaching 7 aerobics classes a week, teaching 1st grade religious school on Sunday, and on the board of the JCC. No wonder I weighed 92 pounds and was always sick with asthma... I am much healthier now.
My thirties and forties were similar, although I went in the opposite direction weight wise. Too busy to workout or eat right, on-call 24/7, never ending stress, I ended up with awful joint issues and wicked allergies (popped up all of a sudden). Four years ago (at age 46) I just stopped, all of it; quit my job and moved over to a civil service job where I work 37.5 hours a week, and now I can go to the gym and eat much, much better! I'm thinking my fifties will be my best years ever.
