I hope that he heals quickly, such an awful thing to happen! Someone I work with had a friend hit by a car just the other day - and the driver did not stop then either. I do not know what is happening to the world where no one seems to feel responsible for their actions.

Honestly-my DH thinks the driver may not have even seen him or been aware that they hit him.

Badgercat, he was traveling east on Broadway, entering the intersection at Craycroft. The car was not in the (very generous) bus/bike lane, but in the right hand travel lane. The car came from behind then did a quick right turn on to Craycroft. It is a well lit intersection and as I say, he had on 3 bright lights.

Praying for a speedy recovery. Turning cars around here almost never seem to see cyclists or pedestrians. It's like they only have eyes for the cars on the cross street, and nothing alongside. Bike lanes seem to be a good idea only in theory.

    Sending hugs,

Ouch! I sure hope your DH heals well and quickly. That's scary stuff, but he definitely sounds like a fighter. Give him a collective hug from TE!

Adding my well wishes. Scary stuff. It hurts to go down! Swift healing!

I complain about other drivers from just driving my car...people often don't even "see" other cars, or respect pedestrians.

Oh my gosh!! Thanks goodness he wasn't hurt any worse than he was, which was bad enough. It makes you wonder how someone couldn't see him with the high vis and presumably reflective tape on his vest. Was the driver drunk? Was the driver texting? I have to hand it to those of you who commute. Drivers today are so distracted that it's becoming more dangerous to be on the road with them.

Situations like this always sit in the back of my head but try not to think too much about it or I wouldn't ride.

I wish you DH a very speedy recovery.

So sorry about your DH. How frightening for the both of you. At 9:45pm, isn't that intersection (Broadway and Craycroft) quieter than the maddness of rush hour? Ok, it may not be as quiet as Sunday 6am but how does a driver NOT see flashing lights in front of him/her?

I wish your DH a very quick and full recovery.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that happened! That's the scariest kind of crash. I'm glad he wasn't hurt worse, and I hope he recovers quickly.

    Biciclista- today?

He's got a constitution of steel I think. I have heard almost no complaining. I would have been whining and moaning. Lots. He stayed home from work, and mostly is wearing the sling. The road rash is quite minimal. By the time I got home he had gotten "cabin fever" and had driven up to Saguaro National Park to take photos. Percoset is probably helping... maybe not such a good idea to drive with that though... Anyway- he will go back to work tomorrow I think, but will be taking the bus or driving- so ends the "perfect commute year".

He'll see the doctor either Friday or Tuesday. His new user pic on another board is an illustration of a scapula with the word fracture above it.... he's got a sense of humor anyway.

Thanks again for all the good wishes- I think he was very lucky.
