I have clipless pedals on my hybrid. It is the best thing I ever did. It makes going up hills, etc so much easier!

I have campus pedals on my hybrid (flat bar road bike). I have used the flat side maybe 4 times, 3 of them for the .99 mile ride to the neighborhood pond. The one time I rode the bike in traffic with regular shoes, I almost killed myself, with my leg flying off the pedal and finding it very hard to push off from a start, without being clipped in. I bought a pair of Keen cycling sandals to wear if I don't want to wear my regular mtb shoes.
I had the same pedals on my mountain bike when I had one. That was so I didn't kill myself from being clipped in. I mostly rode with one foot unclipped the whole time.
I am not good at any changes in anything when I ride. I don't mind switching back and forth from my Speedplays to the SPDs when I go from my road bike to my hybrid, but other than that, it's like starting all over for me. I once rented a beach cruiser when we were in Hilton Head the first time. It took me about 15 minutes to be able to even get on the bike and ride because it felt so weird.

I can't help about the leg issue, but I have clipless on my hybrid, but mostly just wanted to wave HI, as I was born and raised and Pittsburgh.![]()
