It's actually the intermediate lengths that are the hardest. Hassle-wise I could deal with going back to waist length hair. That was just a few minutes a day, comb it out and go. No WAY would I consider chin length ever again. Gel, blow-drying with tools, spray, only getting to skip it on days when I was so sick that I knew for sure no one would see me and too sick to care if they did... Ugh. Never again.

Right now my hair is so easy that I'm totally spoiled. Seriously, shaving my head would be more work.

Enjoy your new style Pink ... and if you want, post a picture of your NEW hair so we can see it!

This is so true, Oak! Either short or long but the in-between is labor intensive and if you are active like we are, it never looks like it's supposed to. I had chin length a couple of years ago and it looked nice after I straightened it but was a PITA to fix. I've kept going shorter and shorter. Has anyone else gone to your stylist and said "I want a cut that looks good after I take my bike helmet off"?

Enjoy your new cut, PinkBike! Think of how much $$ you will save on shampoo

    YES!

That was in 1992 and I've never gone back. Like I said - spoiled.

I've got chin-length hair and I love it. But my hair is easy and straight and I don't have to do anything for it to look good. No blow-drying. I got lucky, I guess. I like the idea of long hair, but it just doesn't look good on me.

Pink, congrats! Are you donating your old hair to one of those organizations that makes wigs for people undergoing chemo? I always wanted to do that but never had the patience to grow my hair that long.

Yes, yes, and yes. I experimented with the chin length (still short underneath) from late 2008 until gradually cutting it all off before my trip last May. By fall 2009, I had cut everything except the long side bangs, which still required the flat iron.
After straightening, the flat iron, and still looking like a freak when I took my helmet/ski hat off, I decided to do what's best for my lifestyle. When I look at pictures from summer 2009, I look like a soccer mom. And that's when I wasn't being active. That style and all of the maintenance required would have been OK if I never moved. My hair frizzes just by pulling a shirt or sweater over my head. I am happy now, I've got the color the way I like it, and my hair stylist understands my lifestyle.

I'm never satisfied with my hair. From pixie cut to past my armpits, from massive heavy curls to chemically straightened, from deep dark red to natural salt and pepper...I've done it all and most of it in the past 10 years!

Now I'm at the in-between chin length stage. I don't blow dry - I refuse. I don't even shampoo unless I've been in the pool and need to remove chlorine. I'm trying to get it to pony tail stage and then I'll keep it there for awhile.

Honestly, when my hair was super short, I had more helmet hair issues than I do now! One of the advantages of unruly hair is that a helmet has little to no effect.

Yup! I went in a couple of weeks ago, desperate, to SuperCuts instead of my regular stylist. Sat in the chair and told her to cut it off. She started with "Really?", followed by "Well, what if we ...". My response was that I didn't care - my head is always in a helmet, I don't blow dry, and I don't put anything in it either. Told her to just cut it - it's just hair, and it grows back.

Now, it's short enough to spike if I want to, and it's definitely wash and wear! Love it.

Pink - good for you for taking such a drastic step! I think you can see from this thread that we all have some pretty strong opinions on our hair, even if it is "just hair".
