There's nothing in "allergy-friendly chocolate" that isn't in the regular kind. It's just that most chocolate is processed in facilities that do tree nuts, so it's unsafe for people who have life-threatening nut allergies.

There was one company I looked at that did say their chocolate didn't melt well, but whatever. The shortening thing may just be a variant on the suggestion to melt chocolate with paraffin. Yum!

Make vegan desserts! I'm a vegan baker and always manage to have cupcakes and cookies on hand. I linked to a vegan blog that I love and have cooked from many times. The vanilla cupcakes there are my go-to. The only item you probably don't have in your kitchen right now is the almond milk and since nuts are out use soy milk instead anyway. I've made wonderful 'buttercream' frosting using Earth Balance margarine (it's non-hydrogenated) instead of butter and soy milk instead of cow milk.

ETA: The brand Enjoy Life makes allergen free chocolates that have worked pretty well for me.

Fruit crisp? Home-made ones don't use dairy or eggs and you can easily leave out the nuts in the topping (if it calls for it).

Usually they are just fruit and sugar as a base and then topped with an oats/flour/brown sugar mixed with a fat (butter or if that is out, any other type of fat would work - lard is great for it) and baked on top. YUM!

(just don't serve it with icecream! )
