Home Spin Bike?

I have no advice on this, but wish you luck in your search. It does sound like a good solution, though it is a shame that there isn't any place in Franklin where you can attend a good spinning class.

I'd also love a home spin bike. I don't like the feel of my bike on the trainer, and sometimes rollers just don't work for my desired workout.
Around me, there's a wholesale place that buys used Spin bikes from fitness centers, reconditions them, and sells them (sometimes, they have brand new ones).
They have Lemond RevMasters, Schwinn, Star Tracs (which my gym uses)...their stock is constantly rotating.
When I'm ready, I'd look here for what they have at that time. More costly, perhaps, than a Performance one, but it would be one I know could handle a spin class environment, so it could handle me in my basement!
Maybe there's something like this around where you are??

I don't think it's a chain. But if you Google'd "wholesale fitness [your area]" perhaps you'd find something similar.

Craigslist for a good deal? If you sell the trainer, you could probably get $100-$150.00 for it depending on which model it is. I just got a good deal on a CycleOps trainer myself, but I would have paid that much for the Magneto used.

If you won't use the trainer, then definitely get the stationary bike. I haven't ever been a huge fan of the gym machines and prefer my own bike, so I guess I made the right decision with my trainer.

I am not a big fan of spinning in the gym or at home but certainly have friends that like it. I guess it would be a good solution for winter weather too if you like biking. Anyway, I would stop in at the local gym and ask the cycling class leader for some advice. I'm sure they would know a lot about them.

I'm actually pretty familiar with gym-quality spin bikes and spinning itself. The Y tested out several models a few years ago, and I tried a bunch. I have a strong preference for one brand in particular. I'm mostly concerned with getting one that works for me (I'm 5'4) and my 6'2 husband.
