I'm too tall for bibtights. And my cold-weather bike tights are actually an old pair of Nike running tights that I got tired of pulling up as I ran. If I was really smart, I would figure out how to put a drawstring in them because they still fall down on the bike - especially over my super-shiny shorts.

Oh, cursed are the athletic hips and thighs that pull tights, hose, and snug pants down.

Try a pair of suspenders to keep the tights up...that's what I have to do with mine for the same reason - tights over shiny, slick cycling shorts. I got a cheapo set in the men's department at Walmart...works great.

Forgive me for being silly, but whenever I see this thread title on the topics list I keep thinking it sounds like a fashion article, and I want to reply "why... how about pairing them with a snappy pair of silver boots, a cute little dress and a matching handbag!"

oh, and yes, I wear them over.

I'm going against the norm...I wear my tights under my chamois bibs. I like the thermal next to my skin, and if it's cold enough for tights, layering isn't an issue. That said, I don't wear tights unless it's under 35. Until then I wear knickers, smartwool long socks, booties, long fingered gloves, wool base layer, ss jersey, arm warmers, thermal jacket/vest. And if I'm going to be taped and it's sub 30, I throw in hot pink fishnets http://vimeo.com/12587416

Climate and cold tolerance is so different. My winter layering has changed every year. But I did learn that less is more. If you're warm starting out, that's a bad thing. I used to come home freezing, it was because I was too warm starting out.

My favorite way to wear thermal tights is while lying on my sofa with a beer watching a good movie. That's just me, though.
