So I think I will accept the job in Los Angeles area, have my house in Portland area, and make a weekly commute from Portland to LA.
The house is quite lovely, the best we've seen after month and month of searching. It's about the 20th one I've visited in person and the best one in about 300 maybe more houses we've looked on line. So we decided to buy it.
Then I got the job offer. Well I'll still buy the house because who knows if the job will pan out over the long run and god knows how long my next house search is going to be.
Commute by car is even out of the question. Cycling definitely not. My personal jet will be all blue with 100 channels of in flight Direct TV with reclining leather seat

This is almost as bad as when I kept two offices at the same time, one in Manassas Va and one in Aliso Viejo California. Bi-coastal was beyond brutal. Twice the number of office people to remember, two sets of security key card, multiple sets of phone numbers to remember...
Good that I have a job and out of semi-permanent retirement. Good too that I will have a very nice house in Portland. And lets ignore the commute for now. All things considered the pay is okay and benefits is okay too. Yippeee!!!
