this could mean there weren't enough diverse applicants. My BF works in upper management for a large petro-chemical company, and he often tells me they can't hire candidate A until they have interviewed a specified number of diverse candidates (e.g., women, racial minorities, etc.).

sorry to hear that you didn't get the position, but sounds like you have a lot of opportunities including some additional benefits at your current job that weren't there previously. Sounds like your current job might be trying to woo you back, but don't forget why you started looking in the first place......
