Wow! My T1 time today (with wetsuit) was 2 mins and I put my shoes on before getting on my bike (I also wear socks - can't go without them!). I would so be yelling at people if I were coming out of transition into that mess!!
Another thing, how short was the swim that there were THAT many people getting their bikes at the same time? I've only done 3 tris, the largest today with 750 people, and I've not had that many people around me when coming out of any transition!! CRAZY!

Okay, I know karma will be biting me in the butt for how hard I laughed at that.

LOL! Yet another reason for me not to try a tri!

Ha, I was thinking the same thing. I loved the duathlon I did last Spring and hope to do at least 2-3 next year. But I can't imagine trying to put shoes on while pedaling. I don't see how it could ever save me time.

I've seen triathletes with what looks like riding barefoot. The pedal looks like a huge platform. Can they just ditch the whole idea of shoes and socks?

No more laughing at someone's misfortune! I missed a turn at my race last night and went from 3rd to way off the podium. I also fell AFTER the race near a large group and have a huge bruise on my hip plus scrapes and cuts on my legs and more bruising. Let this be a lesson.

I witnessed something similar to this at a mass start of a cross race last Sunday.
Everyone was fine but one guy ended up as a dns due to some sort of resulting mechanical.

    I hate mass starts.

It looks like there might be demand for a tri- clinic in that market.
