It depends, but I'd guess more commonly electric (really depends on the area, but even when homes have gas, it's still a split where some things are and some things aren't).

If the house isn't already set up for both options and you want to switch from what the previous owners had, you'd need a bit of work done either way, since electric dryers run on 220.
We had propane to the water heater and furnace only when we moved in. It didn't cost a lot to run a gas line up to the kitchen.
We didn't shell out for a gas stovetop with electric oven though. If there's a next time, we will. Best of both worlds.Speed comes from what you put behind you. - Judi Ketteler
