Camelback question

if the camelbak's bladder is held up high enough (higher than the valve) liquid will flow through it while pinching the bite valve open (without sucking).

When I'm cleaning mine out I hold the bladder up at head-level and run water through the tube by just pinching the valve. You only have to suck when you've got the bag on your back and you're bringing the bite-valve up to your mouth...because then gravity isn't working for you.

They make a bite valve that has a lock off switch in it. I think you could cut off the bite portion of if, and just have the switch be on or off... much better pressure that way.

The thing is, that I see, is that the bladders don't hold that much if you are filling drink glasses.

you wouldn't have to cut off the bite valve. It's removable. It can be pulled off easily.

Oh, wait I guess it is two seperate parts. You get the egro lock valve,



and then pull the bite valve ( not pictured above) off of it, and then you have an on/off switch without having to deal with the bite valve

As long as you have gravity working with you, it will drain well just by pinching your bite valve open. Isn't that how you all rinse your drink tubes?

So if she has it on her back, people will have to hold their cups at about her waist level to get a refill. No problem.

Not certain if this is a good idea... I don't like to put anything but water in my camelbak bladder as other liquids, especially something with sugars, cause the bladder to get funky.

That said I have often transferred water from my bladder to someone elses bottle or Camelbak. All you do is remove the bite value (it slides off) and water flows freely. You can, if you don't want to remove the valve, hold the bag up high and squeeze the valve but trust me, that's ackward to do. Why don't you just lok for a boda (sp?) bag instead??? You know, the bag we all used to carry while skiing and carried "snowshoes"...
