    Camelback question

This question has to do with a (party) function of this equipment. I haven't used one so I have no clue.

A friend of mine is hosting a lobster party. She was looking for something she could walk around with on her back to dispense refreshments on-the-spot. Is the camelback a bite valve and suck or is there enough pressure on it's own if you press the valve? I imagine it is the former or there may be a lot of choking athletes out there.

Your assumption is correct, it has a bite valve.

    It's a bite-and-suck type valve.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

But you could remove the bite valve and then you would probably have adequate pressure to dispense water. But why? Wouldn't an ordinary pitcher serve the same purpose?

if the camelbak's bladder is held up high enough (higher than the valve) liquid will flow through it while pinching the bite valve open (without sucking).

When I'm cleaning mine out I hold the bladder up at head-level and run water through the tube by just pinching the valve. You only have to suck when you've got the bag on your back and you're bringing the bite-valve up to your mouth...because then gravity isn't working for you.
