I was running pretty regularly at the same time of day for a while, and I would generally run the same route. One day I decided to shorten my route for lack of time (or lengthen it for more distance? it's a bit blurry), and crossed the street at a 4-way stop going a different direction. A car went through the intersection at the time, which happens to me frequently so I thought nothing of it. The man turned his car around, came back, and apologised, explaining that usually I don't go that way and he was sorry for not waiting. I didn't even know what to say, other than "oh, thanks so much, and no problem."
It's nice when we acknowledge that each of us is human - bicycle, car, pedestrian, or otherwise. It's sad that it's so infrequent.![]()
