You might want to think about trying the Silver Comet trail. The Silver Comet Depot rents cruiser/hybrid type bikes, and you can head out for a 37 miles on a bike trail - probably the only really flat riding around Atlanta. You might find a hotel in Rockmart, the small town at the current end of the trail. It goes to the main road there for about 10 miles, then picks back up in Cedartown and continues to Alabama. I think the website www.trailexpress.com might help you out with logistics, or ask the folks at the Depot.

Did you get in touch with the guys at the Silver Comet Depot? They're very nice and could probably give suggestions on places in Rockmart. Oh! If you do stay in Rockmart, you absolutely MUST eat at Frankies. It's a little Italian place run by a great lady - and I think (don't quote me on this one) it's housed in what used to be the other location of the Depot bike shop. She (Frankie) has a mural on the wall of the Silver Comet trail, and she'll insist you sign it.
