I do the same. This has been a hot subject of some debate in my household this season. Yes, we argue about the really important issues of the day over out dinner table
I prefer to break up my playlists into uphill and downhill since we live in an area where you're primarily doing one or the other. Uphill is more mellow, Melissa Ethridge, Modest Mouse, Pinback, and No Doubt are current favorites. Downhill is faster and louder, depending on my mood I'll go with either some Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, or classic Madonna or if I'm in feeling a bit more tough I'll listen to Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, or Alice in Chains.
For really technical trails I'll listen to folk music, often Ani Difranco.
My partner listens to surf rock and jazz, the really eclectic jazz that lacks a melody. I would probably enjoy the surf rock but don't want to admit that all
his music isn't noise!
If you've been liking the Shakira, try the Black Eyed Peas, good stuff.
