i thought i would come post a little update

i never posted a first ride report because i wasn't really sure what to say. this is the first bike i have ever had that fit me none of my other bikes really even came close to fitting me. this is my first bike with drop handle bars and my first bike with slick tires and it just felt so strange when i went for that first ride. i wanted to say how i loved my new bike and i did love my new bike but i was a little uncertain about if it would ever really feel how i wanted it to feel. so i decided to give it some time so i could adjust to a bike that fits me.

and i am a mother to a two year old so i don't get a whole lot of free time to go for a bike ride as it is and sometimes i feel a bit quiet here on TE and lurk more than post.

but today i went for a ride and it was my 2nd long for me ride with pi (my luna is named is pi). i also recently got a garmin edge 500 so i have been tracking myself i used to use my iphone running mapmyride to track rides.

today my bike felt like an extension of my body it felt like such a perfect fit. i felt so much more comfortable and more confident and it was just really a nice ride and i went faster than i ever have before (i'm not all that fast my average moving speed was 13.4 but my top speed was 37.6 so glad i didn't know i was going that fast!)

my luna cycle is just an amazing wonderful bike and her name Pi is because a circle is a symbol of balance and riding a bike is about balance and balance is something i am always seeking in my life and i felt balanced and yeah it is a great bike and a great fit and worth every penny.

now i have a bit of a problem though. my way to big for me mountain bike just feels so big and i can't afford another luna for a while. i am finding myself not very motivated to go mountain biking i guess i have to save up for a luna mountain bike.and also i am realizing i want a inexpensive bike to ride around town when running errands that fits me better than my mountain bike but whatever bike i use for that has to be inexpensive in case it gets stolen. (for now my mountain bike is my around town/chore bike)

i am in love with pi! luna cycles rock!

Congratulations! I keep reading such good things about Luna! I want one...however I have decided that I must wait 5 years before spending that kind of money on a bike (plus it will take that long to save it). If I love biking as much as I do now in 5 years then it will be worth it.

I might be converted to steel in the future...
My head tells me that I will deserve a graduation present next year at this time, but I don't think our finances are telling me this. I could have bought more than one Luna on what I have spent on bikes that aren't quite right....

The more you ride it, the more you will love it!

I did my first 50 mile ride on my Luna Saturday. It's wonderful. It's like pedaling butter. I can shift and brake from the drops and I have NO shoulder, neck or wrist pain. It's the sweetest ride ever!

Crank, steel is wonderful. I don't think I will ever go to anything else and you make a very good point about the cost in bikes that don't fit.

Glad you like your Luna, Moonfroggy!

Welcome to the world of the custom bike

Those that live in the 90th percentile for body build don't fully grok this. For those of us who are distant outliers....it is a whole new perspective to roll down the road and feel comfortable on a bike. A bike built just for you. A bike that *fits*.

    Keep enjoying that Luna!

When I first got my Luna back in 2005, it took me a few months to feel like it was okay for me to ride the bike...I just had this feeling that my Luna was too good for me, that I couldn't live up to it, that I wasn't a good enough rider (this from someone who has been riding seriously for 25 years and who is very comfortable on bikes).

But then I told myself to shut up and ride my bike. It's been great ever since and I have NO desire to get another road bike. I have gotten a Bike Friday since, but that's for travel.

Now a mountain bike or a 'cross bike...I might want to get one of those in the future, and they will be Lunas.

i waited about 5 years because i was afraid to spend the money and because i just didn't have the money. if i could have gotten it sooner i would have loved it and if you find a way to get one sooner i encourage you to do so! it is such a wonderful bike!

Took me a few rides too, to get used to my new Luna that fit me so well. Just because it was such a different balance than my bike that didn't fit as well.
    Love love love my Luna!
