I already kissed him goodbye, he's on his way to work, i'm on my way to work. 1 mile later, there he is, waiting on the street that runs parallel to the company property that I am riding on to get to my office so he can say sweet things again.

Being out in the pre-dawn quiet, feeling/hearing the world waking up around me. I suspect that I will enjoy it even more when I am confident enough to ride that early - I already have a great headlight

Riding my bike when the only sounds I can hear are those of my tire on the pavement and the birds in the trees beside the road.

Hiking a MTB trail and watching mtb riders along the way.

Listening to the water fountain outside of my apartment with all of my windows open, stretched out on the couch reading a good book or doing needlework.

Love this thread. Lots of things make me smile but here's just a few:

    • when my big alpha-male malamute decides he's a lap dog.
    • when I get home from work and his sister scolds me for being gone.
    • honestly, pretty much everything else the dogs do.
    • coming home after a hard day at work and finding that hubby has already cooked dinner so I don't have to.
    • A sunny day when the forecast said rain.

Yep. When I first started seriously riding, I was going through a tough breakup, and my biggest release was my ride in Zionsville, i.e., the only one that I felt confident to do at that point in time. It was late summer, so the only thing I would typically hear during my rides was the loud buzzing of all te summer bugs. I loved that sound. Even when off the bike, all I had to do to go to my "happy place" was to picture the whir of my bike wheels and imagine the sounds of summer. My pulse would immediately drop.

Those were good times. It's a wonderful thing to discovery something, be it riding, yoga, walking, gardening, etc., that makes you feel at peace when your world otherwise doesn't feel so good.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

    Goat babies.

    The smell of warm dirt.

Seeing buds on all our fruit trees.

Lying in bed, before the alarm goes off, warm and cozy, and listening to the rain on the roof.

Watching the tiny 6 lb cat attack the 2 70lb dogs with not a single ounce of fear.

When my husband pours me a glass of wine, cooks me dinner, or heats up my side of the bed without any suggestion from me.

Talking to the plants in our garden or greenhouse. This actually makes me laugh out loud at myself - maybe I'm going insane?

Reading blog updates. Some of you need to update your blogs. You know it is all about me and my amusement.

You'll notice that 'posting in my blog' was not one of the things that make me smile, right?

Having an up-to-date blog does though. Posts coming soon!

Okay, sing along...Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes. Snow flakes that stick to your nose and eyelashes. Brown paper packages, tied up with string...The Sound of Music makes me smile.

Eddy (my cat) lying on his back, washing his face with both his front paws at the same time.

Twiggy (my other cat) doing the jitterbug.

    Little girls blowing bubbles.

    Sandcastles.

    The smell of suntan lotion.

    Ice cream cones.

    • Seeing the lady that walks her 2 Scottish Terriers on the bike path each and every time I ride it...those dogs are adorable!
    • Watching my kitties sleep...especially when they move their tails while sleeping...I think they're dreaming
    • Hitting all the green lights on the way home from work

I admit, it's hard to make me smile... I tend to be too serious about most things.

My DH still makes me smile after 30 years of marriage. I still want to be with him all of the time, even now.

The smell of all of the seasons. It's hard to explain, but each season in New England has a certain smell. And the smell of pinon, (sorry, no little Spanish mark to put above the n in that word), on a clear December night in the desert. One of the few things I miss about AZ.

Memories of funny things with my kids.

Seeing the respectful way my sons treat their SOs.

When I finish a hard ride, even though I have complained the whole time, which happens a lot!
