Also thought it was cool about the remarks of (short) Steve Nash, the NBA (basketball) star, originally from Victoria, B.C., after his run yesteray in the torch relay at 49th St. where he shocked alot of teen basketball kids when they saw him (no advance news he was going to be in relay).

Steve said when he was a kid, his hero..was Terry Fox, the Canadian guy, who nearly finished his run across Canada on 1 good leg and 1 prosthetic leg but succumbed to cancer.
I didn't know but Terry Fox is actually known in some European countries. He is known in Germany. And some of cancer-related runs, are named after him. Long before Lance Armstrong came on the scene. Terry Fox, in certain parts of Europe, is still remembered.
It may true the ParaOlympics aren't getting enough attention.
But it is very true that 2 Canadian athletic heroes for past 25 years, with a national recognition, just happen to be 2 people each with disability, where alot of Canadians have derived inspiration-- Rick Hansen and Terry Fox. There are several monuments all over Canada for each of these people.
