Other than this one race that Wahine told me about (http://www.edmonton.ca/attractions_r...triathlon.aspx), I haven't given it much thought but you just inspired me to do some research! Looks like there are some good events around.

I've been vaguely thinking that in addition to working on my swimming form I should check out the Chi walking/running books and work on my foot and ankle stability. Taking the dog for daily walks seems to have exacerbated some muscular imbalances. It's also been a bit of a challenge to establish routines re my fitness goals, but hey -- it's a new year, right?

Race Center lists both US and Canadian events: http://racecenter.com/. Trifind too: http://www.trifind.com/Races/Interna...riathlons.aspx

You know I learned on chi running so I'm a fan. I bet a few exercises from a good PT would help with the foot/ankle thing as well.

I definitely want to do the Black Diamond HIM race again in September. Other than that I don't have a lot of plans. Maybe I'll try the Donner Lake tri again. I'm 0-for-2 on it - one DNS and one DNF.

Ack. This may have to be the year.

On a whim I'd put the "Freestyle Made Easy" DVD in my wishlist and forgotten about it until it wound up in my Christmas stocking.

Then, it was just announced that the Trek Women's Tri Series is having a sprint race just down the road from me in July.

I can't think about this and train for my marathon! Anyone know how quickly those races sell out?

This thread brought me back from months of lurking, but that meant I had to find my password first! Anyway, it's good to be back, and Happy New Year to all!

I signed up for a women-only pool sprint in May. I wasn't sure I wanted to do a pool tri (did one last year, and one OW tri), but this one always sells out fast and it's early in the season and close by, so I entered. It filled in less than 36 hours this year.

I also signed up for an OW tri in August. 700m swim, 22 mile bike (yahoo!, I was trying to find a race with a longer bike course), and a 3.6 mile run.

I am still perusing the other race possibilities for 2010.

I signed up for a 3-part run technique clinic through a local triathlon club. The first session is next week. I have the Chi Running DVD, but haven't made it all the way through it yet because it always puts me to sleep!

After hurting my Achilles in June and losing several months from running I'm taking a step back from my Olympic distance plans and am looking at doing an Aqua Velo or two.

So far my calendar looks like:

    * May: Kinetic (or Pocomoke) Sprint tri???
    * Jun6: Tour de Cure metric century (registered)
    * Jun27: Celebration Sprint Tri: relay swimmer (registered)
    * July: Rocketts Landing (or Colonial Beach) Aqua Velo (Oly distance)
    * Aug22: Iron Girl Sprint tri (registered)
    * Sep: Sandman Sprint tri

I doubt I'll do any run-only races as I don't want to pressure myself to get back running too quickly.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...
