It's possible that the cat will make it back to the old house. Maybe your sister could ask some former neighbors to keep a lookout for the kitty.
Denver Fire Department found the cat in downtown Denver (!), almost exactly halfway between the old house and the new. The microchip identified her. Tonks is on her way home!

That is great news!! Cats often try to get back "home" when they are moved.

Very pleased to hear kitty is homebound! I'm confused though.. the fire department looks for lost cats?

For riding with your dog. I've thought about getting one.

Those have been debated at length here. To me it looks like an accident waiting to happen, but there are people who use them.

Sorry I should have done a search. I usually take Nanook to places where she can run loose. I think your dog would have to be really well trained to run well on one of those.

ah, correction. My sister told me it was actually the "firehouse animal care" vet, not the fire department who connected the dots and found Tonks' family. I thought the involvement of a large metro fire department a bit extreme, too, but, well, she is quite the kitty.

Glad Tonks is on her way home. Was she named after the Harry Potter character? I love that name. My kitty is currently anticipating the return of egg nog season. She has to have her own (a tiny bit in a little cup) or she won't leave us alone. She dips her tiny paw in and licks it off a little at a time. It takes her all evening but she relishes every drop.

Hugs to you and your kitty.

Yeah for Tonks! Excellent news! Good ol' microchips! That reminds me that I haven't gotten one for my rescue kitty who stayed! I'll have to drag her into a local clinic and get her vaccines and microchip (I work at the ER, and we don't carry either -- kind of feel helpless that way!).

Cute pics of the boys, papaver! They look like lots of fun.
