I caved in and bought one of the new 3GS phones the middle of last month... and have been really surprised at how much I use it. Right out of the box, the Maps function has helped me out when I wandered out of my usual territory in search on New Roads to Ride, and brought me safely back to some semblance of civilization... The Camera function has been useful, and I finally figured out how to download the pictures to my computer ;-)

As for apps:
  • Facebook
  • Files (text and Word file reader)
  • GoodReader (handles large PDFs
  • Google Earth
  • iMapMyRide
  • Kindle
  • Weather Channel
  • UrbanSpoon
  • WebMD
  • White Pages
  • VerseWise (Bible (KJV, and quite good, there's now dust on my leather-covered edition)
  • MotionX GPS
  • Graphing Calculator
  • Mathematics (I'm a cookbook mathematician, and this is a collection of cheatsheets for various formulae)
  • Pandora Radio
  • Traffic!
  • Oklahoma/Arkansas Weather Radar
  • Arkansas Atlas

No games, though...

With the GoodReader, Files, and YouTube apps, I've got my League Smart Cycling material loaded on the iPhone, and can hold class in the coffee shop, in the parking lot, or along the side of the road as needed. It's a neat little tool.
