Reality did hit today, though, as I was doing a tour of some of the North Carolina universities with my daughter. If she manages to get in to Duke, it would be incredible and the school so good for her, but man, 50k a year? Ouch!! Guess my dream bike waits 5 years. But it's fun to dream!
Ah - you're in my neck of the woods. Let me know if you have Duke questions - I graduated from Duke, and am still in very close contact.

Ha... that was my final thought right as the Diva sold out and I got my Onix Orbea. All I could think was... OHHH... I don't think I could ride it to do xyz... what if I crash it?!?!

Not that I'd be real happy crashing the Onix by any means. But, I just said that to my riding partner on a recent club event. Beautiful new carbon bike... x2 $ mine. Poured rain whole event day...

Ummm... did ya buy the bike to ride it? Or to have it be a show piece?

I vote ride! If something is so purdy you can't play with it... is it really worth having?

And "yes" I know that's what a back up bike is good for... but one bike at a time...

    Eddy Merckx Love

I have to agree -- Vanilla's are reeeally nice.

After losing my 2005 Fuji Euro Pro carbon off the roof rack in late April this year (oh! the heartache!), my insurance company came through with enough replacement value dollars for me to get my dream bike (pinch me!!): An Eddy Merckx EMX3 carbon, full Campy Super Record. I've tried to think of names, but the only one I can really call it is just "Eddy." After getting over the fact that The Man was standing a mere 3 feet from me, I saw Eddy with a prototype EMX3 on an celebrity charity ride in 2006 and have lusted after it ever since. Hard to believe I actually own one now.

    Me too

I also know a bit about the cycling team there, though I wasn't on it as a student (I rode horses instead).

Very nice bike! Similar color combo to my Merckx Fuga. We're like fraternal twins. I haven't seen another bike I'd want as much as my dreamy bike, but I'd love to give yours a try. Ahhh, better not though. She might get jealous.

My bf's Merckx is also named Eddy (as is my cat).
