The simple fact is muscle weighs more than fat. If you are losing inches even without losing a lot of weight, you are losing fat - it is a good thing.

tis very normal. you must be working out properly and eating right. gaining muscle mass and losing the extra fat. It's a good thing.
That all sounds good to me. How intense are those 10-15 miles? Can you increase the intensity or the mileage at least a few times a week?
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

What's more important to you, how you look in your jeans or a number on the scale?
It sounds like you're enjoying some good body recomposition (less fat, more muscle) and are on the right path. But I entreat you to add some lower body work in the gym; cycling isn't a substitute for lower body strength training.
Nice work!![]()

My Blog/Journal: Fat Athlete
Two pounds down in two weeks sounds just fine to me. And if you are already inches smaller in that time frame, I wouldn't worry about it. It sounds like you are making great progress!

Hey—I'm jealous. I'm only down about 1lb after six weeks of eating 1600 calories or less and I haven't lost any inches.
Hang in there, it will start to come. Try changing up your workout to shock your body. Some interval workouts should get things moving.

And that pound of muscle will increase your metabolism. The pound of fat just increases... your cushion.

Look, when a person talks about something weighing more than something else its generally a given that you are comparing the same volume, not the same weight of each, which would just be stupid. If you want to pick nits - muscle is more dense than fat. Sorry if I wasn't crystal clear enough to make sure you could actually understand what I meant. Sheesh.

BAck in '98 I trained all year for the NYC marathon... serious milage and way serious weight work in gym. The day I started I weighed 145. The day I finished the marathon, 143.
Same in 2000 when training for Boston-NYC Aidsride... only then I didn't shed a single pound.
BUT I had great definition!
No worries! The thing that matters most is how you feel. Don't get hung up on the number on the scale. And most importantly, have fun!

no regrets!
