Today was the start training for the 50k race I have in August. Since the average temps for where the race is held tend to be around 87f that time of year, my running buddy Maggy & I decided to head out at the hottest time of the day here. Temps in the 80's & 60% humidity.
We were both well geared, carried water and her Hubby met us with water along the route so the heat was bearable. The plan was to go 12miles, but we ended up going 13.45!! The longest I have run since the marathon in May. In the last two miles I could feel a few muscles getting tight, but I am sure some of that is still from recovering from the HIM a little over a wk. ago.
Took an ice-bath as soon as I got home & massaged some hammer balm into my quads so hopefully that will have me feeling pretty good in the morning.
It was a fun run & I had great company which made the miles fly by!
Susan- You have done an inspiring job with committing to your training routine! Hope you are able to get some useful info from the Dr. tomorrow.
