I am learned a lot by reading some of the posts on this site.

I had a question about the day before the race. Do most people take the day off and totally rest or perhaps do an easier bike ride or run?

The races are usually on Sunday here and its hard to do nothing on Saturday especailly if its nice out - but I also want to make sure I have all my energy for race day.
Most of my tris are out of town so Saturday ends up being a travel day and a forced rest day. If you feel you must do something, stick to shorter, low effort stuff, maybe something unrelated to tri like yoga or a nice walk.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Some do a short unit of any one of the sports in the last 3-4 days, with some fast paced pick-ups (e.g. a few 25's in the pool, a few strides on a run, or a few short race-pace intervals on the bike).

And of course you get spaghetti the night before. And you can obsess over your packing list.
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.
