We don't have a car and don't intend to get one so it's easier for us to justify. I only use 1 of my bikes regularily. The other 2 bikes have been used in the past, each for several years. I just have them around for times when regular bike is being repaired or when I have guest staying with us, to invite them for an easy cycle.

If you don't have huge loans/bills to pay and are living within your means, plus if you've had your current bike for many years with alot of mileage on it, then it's alot easier to make the decision.

And taking time to check out speedy road bike models would help. And you know that "checking out" could mean several months...which means saving up more money for no.2.
