I just cant believe that someone would willingly change their body to help them in sports. All this for a few more months on the bike? Really. I think it is beyond crazy. However, coming from him, that is totally in character. I hope that he does not have any ill effects later on in life when the arthritis starts to move in.

Oak- your right it does say April Fools at the bottom of the article.

I just think this would cause a lot of pain and misalignment in his back and everything else, that I don't believe it really happened. I just don't see it. But, I'm no doctor.
*I see the April Fool's thing at the end, now. I don't think the blog is necessarily written by someone who lives in Italy...

And for his next attempt at cheating the wind....he's going to have a Giro TT helmet implanted in his cranium to make his head more aerodynamic!!

Lots of athletes - and regular people - have LASIK.
Arm pump surgery (some sort of perforation of the fasciabecause their forearm muscles are too developed to fit inside the connective tissue) is standard for motorcycle racers.
There's some kind of shoulder or elbow surgery that's pretty much standard for baseball pitchers now.
Other sports probably have their own specific surgeries. Never mind all the cosmetic surgeries that people have every day.
Really, the only reason that this was an April fool is that it would take a whole lot more than shortening the collarbones to present a smaller profile to the wind...

The surgery that baseball players have, "Tommy John" surgery, is a repair, not an enhancement.

I read this back on the 1st on cyclingnews.com. In all I think I read 3 different april fools articles about Lance, and I expect there were more floating around out there. Which I suppose is why he twittered "I'm glad April Fool's Day is over" on April 2.
I don't really know that much about it, but I know I've read that it "repairs" them stronger and more flexible than they were before the injury.
Arm pump surgery is definitely an enhancement, but I doubt if anyone has it until after they've had trouble with arm pump.
Is LASIK an "enhancement" or a "repair?"
