I'm not an expert, but I'm going to guess that since they have that pig in their house and their house doesn't appear to be on a farm, then that pig is probably a pot bellied pig. They only get to be about the size of a small/medium dog (though they will weigh as much as a human!).

A farm pig? Over 1000 lbs...not something to consider a 'pet'.

I've heard amazing stories about pigs which is exactly why we will not raise them. In my mind, they are way too intelligent a being to be raised and slaughtered for meat. I couldn't do it. Hell, I'm having a hard enough time thinking about eventually probably having to off a chicken...and they are stupid creatures!

And the bigger the pig, the harder it is to "catch" it..so says my partner, the ex-cattle and pig farmer.

We were quite shocked several winters ago, while driving down from a mountain ski resort in interior B.C., suddenly a large wild black hairy boar ran in front of the car through the snow. It was quite frightened. Just unusual to see such hairy boar in our neck of the woods. Maybe there's more that hang out in the North American mountains?
