Thanks guys. I talked to my son and told him about the dog (he's visiting his dad for the week). He started hollering he was gonna call him BatmanWe'll see about that.
You know, for a little no-kill shelter they have the best dogs there. I don't even live in that county anymore but I would go there for a pet any day. And I'm still using my vet there - I also find that hard to change.
Off to make him a grooming appointment - I've never had a dog professionally groomed before!

I renamed my dog from Shadow to Shiloh; he probably didn't even notice the change. My mom fostered a dog that she called Honey Lamb, and the adopter renamed her Cunningham. Again, I bet the dog hardly noticed.
I've been told that dogs pick up new names very easily, even names that don't sound like their old names. Your son should name him whatever he wants. Congratulations!
