Wow! That is tragic news. I hope that they have caught it early! My mother had colon cancer surgery last Wednesday and we just found out on Monday that it was cured with surgery! She had it done laparascopically, which is a MUCH BETTER way to go if the cancer is limited. The recovery time is faster and they are often able to recover more lymph nodes because the visualization is better. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about this more.
My family is incredibly relieved! We have been through a number of health crises ourselves. My father nearly died before he got a liver transplant last year. Sometimes, it just seems like you draw a bad card, doesn't it? Thankfully, my Dad is doing great and it looks like my mother will do well, too. Hope and prayers and friends go a long way to getting you through times likes these.

I don't know why there has to be so much cancer in our families these days. I lost my s-i-l to colon cancer this past summer. As difficult as it was, it brought our family closer together and it taught us to cherish the time we have. I will keep your family in my prayers.
