I think a bike ride together sounds awesome. But who needs a stinkin' holiday to do that?
Since it is also our anniversary, we're dinner-n-a-movie-ing. I think Slumdog Millionaire...
I can do five more miles.
For the most part, we don't 'do' Valentines day but I think a side by side bike fitting is a very 'fitting' way to celebrate!
Our very first Valentines day together after we met, we got each other the exact same gift...we'd only known each other 5 months, so it was a little freaky. Ever since then, we don't celebrate with gifts since we can't top that first one even if we tried.
Besides, my birthday is a few days before Valentines and I don't like it to be watered down by a Halmark holiday anyway.
(ps - I got sleek, sexy, black...WHEELS for my birthday!)

That is a great idea!!! Besides, who says you cant have both. A side-by-side massage sounds pretty appealing after cycling mile & miles.
I know I'm not getting Roses, Chocolate or Jewelry because everything my hubby has mentioned looking at for me is Cycling or Tri related. Maybe I will get clipless pedals & road shoes or signed up for my first ironman? That's plenty romantic to me!

Heh, I sent my ldr honey a box with chocolate AND Gu. For his b-day, I'm going to get him Pro 3 tires to match the new bike he built up.For Christmas he got me Ultegra brakes, front and rear!
Sigh. Roadies are SO romantic!!![]()
I like the idea of side-by-side fittings. I can't say that a side-by-side massage appeals to me. When I get a massage, I'm looking for therapy, not romance.
My BF is making a nice dinner for me on Saturday. And we got each other "Snuggies" (as seen on TV) for Valentines's Day. I'm thrilled. His house is always freezing! I also got him a Thai cookbook and he got me an immersion blender. We do nice things for one another all the time, so Valentine's Day isn't so much a holiday as it is an excuse to eat more!
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

I would much rather get a professional bike fit for VD than jewelry or candy (and I love chocolate)!
I don't know what I'd do if DH ever gave me a diamond anything - he knows better, anyway. What would I do with real jewelry?? Great for a lot of people, just not me. Skiing/biking stuff is always the best! I'm giving him the Zoot tri running shoes I got him for Christmas, but held back for Valentine's day when he lost his job (cutbacks), and he's giving me a Craft long underwear shirt and an Ibex ski hat.
Actually, a couple of years ago he pretended that he got me diamond earrings or a ring or something for Christmas - right down to wrapping an old ring box which contained a note telling me to go upstairs and look in the closet. I almost cried out of frustration as I was opening it - he really knows not to do anything like that, but still was very convincing. I was sooo relieved when the gift in the closet was a framed photograph that I had fallen in love with at a local gallery! We've joked for years about diamond tennis bracelets and tiaras and things, which is why he did it.
Saturday we're going to do Ski for Heart, which is a fund raiser for a local charity. He and I are aiming for 50km that day (we have 5 hours - maybe 56k, since that would be 2 laps of everything). Some friends will be joining us for 1/2 of it, but we'll definitely be spending the day together doing something fun. Then probably eating and renting movies and crashing out for the rest of the day.
I think the bike fitting is a great idea, Mr S!

I think it's also good to celebrate Valentine's day if you don't have a partner by doing something loving for yourself, or perhaps a sweet gesture for a lonely elderly person or a child you know, or for your pet. Love can be directed towards any deserving creature!Valentine's Day is about love and kindness.
