Exclamation New Year Resolutions - yawn!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

OK, love it or hate the idea but anybody intending to make New Year resolutions?

Decided I would, so here goes.

    1. OMG.............to stop eating is the first on the list.
    2. To try and be more tolerant when I am on my bike and not yell at people who get in the way!!!
    3. To make more time for me and enjoy life more, I expect that sounds really bad.

That's plenty to be going on with

    1. I will go to both swim practices every week.
    2. I will "earn" each run by doing core work.
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

I don't have any as of yet. A few years I had one that lasted several months.. it was to try or do something new every day. It was pretty fun.

No, what would sound really bad is if you had decided to enjoy life less.

I don't do New Year's Resolutions, at least not for 1/1. I wait until the day before my birthday then consider what I'd like to accomplish by my next birthday. It just feels more like my new year.

Fess up, how'd we do on our 2008 goals? I like the idea of goals more than resolutions. Resolutions like new gym memberships I tend to drop by January 2nd

    http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=20351

    My plan last year was:
rehab the toe, check! But still much more to do.
bike to work more, check! wanna do more. what used to be a couple times a month became reliably and regularly a couple times a week. Now even during winter storms co workers ask "where's your bike?"
spend more time in Aikido so my teacher remembers that I'm there and maybe get my next rank though that's entirely up to her and.... check! But fell off the wagon somewhat, gotta get back in.
do at least the metric on Bike Against the Odds, even after ALC the most I could do there was the 49 mile. Totally blew that, did not do a single organized ride due to work on the remodel. I plan to do the Cindy next year and unless I'm done with the condo soon that could be it.

new for this year I am now jogging, yes jogging with the doggie.

    My resolutions this year -

    * FINALLY drop that 20 pounds that have been bugging the crap out of me!
    * Finish the Big Sur 10.6 mile run (part of the Big Sur Marathon) is less time than last year.
    * Finish the LiveStrong 100 mile challenge and survive.

To remember than my job is just that, a job, and not let it affect the rest of my life.

And I'm stealing Clockwork Orange's #3 To make more time for me and enjoy life more

You won't get much cycling done (or anything else) if you stop eating, Clock... please reconsider

    As for me?
    • Work only the four days I am paid for and remember I am not indispensable.
    • Do more bike rides with my partner
    • Enter some Masters cycle races and tours
    • "Find" my house (underneath all the evidence of it being lived in)
    • Have my own office space
    • Continue to complete my Masters in Education

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".

My goals for 2009....at least what I can think of at the moment:

--Ride my bike more miles than I did in 2008 (won't be too hard to do, since 2008 mileage really 'bit').
--Use my bike a LOT for errands and shopping.
--Lose 5 pounds overall (I'd say 10 but don't want to jinx myself) and gain more leg muscle strength.
--put up a decent website for Ruby and her friends.
--brush up on my knitting skills, which I have shamefully neglected for several years now since getting into biking. At least a little basic stuff so I don't forget everything.

I'm not making any. I tend to set goals that are shorter term, as they come along. For a couple of years I tried saying, "I'll be more spiritual," but it's never going to happen.
I don't want to set any cycling goals this year. I have realized I comfortably ride about 2500 miles a year, so anything over that is gravy. I do want to ride more for errands and use my mountain bike more than twice...
