Dear Non-Profit organization that provides service dogs to the blind -

You broke my dog!!! Well, I know, technically he's "your" stud dog, and I am just his "keeper", but let's be realistic, he's our family's DOG. And he went in for a DATE with one of your floozies, and I go to pick him up and his tail is BROKEN!! Who slammed the frickking kennel door on my dog's tail??

And it may need to be amputated to prevent nerve damage, and amputation seems like such a silly thing but you people who don't LIVE with him have no idea how much pleasure he gets from chasing his tail. Seriously, he has done this his entire simple loving little life. He is a tail chaser. He loves it.

Well, let's just hope he's home for Christmas.

    Dog mom.

    Oh poor puppy

Not that it's the major issue obviously, but I hope they're at least going to pay the vet bills.

I know I know I know this should stay dear so and so, but oh, Sarah! I'm really sorry. That really stinks. Please smooch him for me.

If you think about how dogs mate, it is not far fetched at all to imagine tail injuries during the event.

They will sprain tails occasionally. But I saw the X-ray. That bone is crushed, displaced and not OK.

They do pay all vet bills. He is "their" dog. But he has been OUR family for 8 years. So it hurts.

Thanks guys for the empathy. We are thinking of having the other dog's tail docked to make our wounded warrior feel less self conscious. (We won't. It is just a whim.)

Dear Russo, you are still cute even with a deformed tail.

Yellow's Sammie recently had a broken tail also. Maybe she can give you some good advice.

you sure about that? They've done new studies that show that dogs can understand the concept of "fair".

i did this to my own dog! he was going through a door with me and his tail got caught! he screamed bloody murder when it happened, and later 3 inches from the tip he had a permanent bump. I felt like some kind of evil monster, but it was an accident. i hope they don't have to amputate!

    Confession

I did this to my dog, too. I was four and she kept dragging me around by the seat of the pants. So I bent the tip of her tail and she had a bent tail for her remaining 11 years. This break is about an inch from the butt, and the concern is it may pull on the spinal cord and cause nerve damage.

    Poor puppy!

Our Rottie of course had a docked tail (she came that way from the shelter). I loved watching her wag her stump. I always wondered what kind of damage her tail would have done since her stump wiggled so much.

Can you pin a tail on a dog?

    Sick humor I know.

Dear Shiloh, Thanks for being such a cool and awesome buddy, and such a great watchdog. I'll be extra careful of your tail!
