REI Winter Sale + Timex 20% Rebate

If you are looking for a Timex watch, now is the time to buy. Tonight I bought this watch: http://www.rei.com/product/724204#

Used my 20% off membership coupon (I think it's good through tomorrow) AND got a 20% mail-in rebate coupon. So, 40% off total.

I like this watch in particular because it has the BIG numbers -- I have trouble seeing the smaller numbers when running.

Oh, forgot to mention, I saw the same watch at Sports Authority for the "special price" of 30% off . . . however, the watch was priced at $20 more than at REI!

You also earned dollars for your yearly dividend.

Anytime I use the 20% or buy something on sale the receipt says that it does not count towards the dividend. The first year I belonged to REI, I only used the 20% off or bought things on sale and my dividend was a big fat 0!

Yep, sale items or items you've used a coupon on don't count towards your dividend... only the stuff you've paid full price for.

I used my 20% membership coupon to get a 3L Camelbak bladder to put in my daypack for hiking I should have waited and used my coupon online for something more e'spensive, but I hardly ever get to go to REI (there isn't one in the city where I live, but is one near the family I've been visiting for this holiday weekend) and I REALLY just felt like leaving the store with something useful in my hands.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand... I love Timex watches, but the last one I own got left on a park bench in New York City when I had taken it off to put on sunscreen when I was on vacation a couple years ago. I ran back about 2 1/2 minutes later and it was already gone Maybe this is my chance to replace it...! Thanks for the heads up michelem.

True ... unless you use your REI Visa card - then you still get a 5% rebate.

That's why our REI dividend is always so small....we shop the clearance and sales racks there, and I won't add another credit card to my wallet.
