You all look great! Looks and sounds like you spent the day in a very pretty place, even with the threatening weather. I think I was running with you in spirit...up on a very windy ridge at probably about the same time you were tacking that hill. Every day you get out there is a day you're living, no need to be disappointed with anything. It doesn't come again.

BTW, you're a runner too, missy!

Good job, V! I'm glad the weather cooperated for the most part.

I'm not sure I'd call it a terrible race. I'd call it a character building experience.
I'll get back on the bike soon, I promise!

Sorry to hear this was a bad race for you.

Don't let it discourage you to much, just gives you something to go back and reclaim next year.

Out of curiosity did you take any pain meds or anti-inflammatories before the race started?

I noticed this season that I cannot take ibuprofen before I run otherwise I end up with stomach cramping pretty badly. At first I thought it was a fueling issue, but it turned out to be that. Might be something to consider. *shrug*

I too applaud you for all the races you do. Keep it up! You are an inspiration.

    Hey Veronica -

Which shoes did you end up wearing? Enquiring minds want to know!

I wore the new shoes for the first run and the older shoes for the second. I have the older pair set up better for quick transitions. Not that a quick transition really mattered much on this race.

I am not discouraged by my race results - disappointed definitely. Not every day is going to be a good day. That's the way life is.

I don't know when my next race will be. I'm riding a 200K next weekend. I hope it doesn't rain. I like having an event every month or so. It keeps me on my toes. I am planning on doing Devil Mountain Double in April though, so I will be spending the next few months training for that. In May I want to do the World's Hardest Triathlon. I don't think I'll be up for the HIM. I'd like to be... but I suspect the Olympic is more practical.

    Thumbs up Thanks, buddy.

Even with your yukky stomach, you rock, Veronica! Thanks for helping me train and getting Betsy and I ready in the transition zone on Saturday. It was great to have two 'jock friends' along on Saturday. Count me in for a triathlon next summer!
Oh yeah, having a papparzzo to capture the day was neat, too!

    Congratulations Veronica!

Sorry to hear about your tummy trouble, but you did great anyhow. And you enjoyed yourself - that's what it's all about. Way to go!

    Congratulations Veronica!

Sorry to hear about the stomach upset. I'm sure the next one will be more rewarding. Good for you for hanging in there.

Thanks for the report. Thom's pictures are fantastic as usual.
