    Picture my dh sent me

Forgive me, but I had to share a photo my dh sent me today from Iraq. It's my favorite photo I got today, excluding the ones that have him in them. He was flying over the ruins of Babylon (on the left) and one of Saddam's palaces (on the right). It always amazes me to think of the deep history in this part of the world. Anyway, just thought it was a nice photo.

Thank you. And to answer your question, he just got there so we have nearly a year before he's back home.

I'm glad you liked the pic.

Amazing picture - thanks! I hope for peace for that part of the world some day. It has so much historical meaning.

Thanks for the pic. When my son was over there, I don't think he quite got the historic significance of where he was (most 23 yo's don't get the historical significance of *anything* anyway). He didn't take many pictures of the landscape, which I would have liked.

I hope your husband comes home to you safe and sound!

    Thank ya'll very much.

And Karen, I have to wonder if it's the age or that he's a guy. LOL DH knew I wanted a picture of those ruins, and today we were chatting online before he downloaded the picture to me and I got so excited. I said, "So what did they look like?!!" And he replied, "Uh.....ruins." Men!

I think you're right, my DH would say the same thing. I think I'll keep him anyway.

Hope your husband comes home safe and soon!
Most of the pictures Scott sent were of farms and several pictures of him, surrounded by Iraqi kids and goats, etc. He said basically the country is just trashed, although he could tell it had been really nice at one time. He was out in the country, so not a lot to see.
On the other hand, when he was in Lebanon 2 years ago, guarding the embassy, he said it was just gorgeous and he was upset he wasn't allowed to go anywhere.

Yeah, dh's first deployment pics were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different than these! lol Much more of the terrible conditions. That's why this one really blew me away. Thank you for your husband's service, too, Crankin. And yours, as well.

FYI, Scott is her son, not husband. But yes, lets hope they all come home safe soon! But folks, we can do more than hope, yes, we can VOTE. So, get out there and VOTE to end this senseless war, that's wasting so many human and financial resources.

Thank you for the info. Since I'm fairly new, I didn't realize that. But fyi, I thought we were supposed to keep our political opinions out of posts over here? Do I have that wrong, too???

    No, you are quite right.
