Then don't. wipe down the guest bath sink and that's it.
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

The house is what it is. If he wants different accomodations, I'm certain there are plenty of hotels in the area.

Enjoy your bike ride. And if Dearie wants a cleaner house, let them clean it.

If I were told by my dh that some business friend of his was dropping by to spend the night on short notice, I'd probably stick to removing my smelly bike stuff hanging to dry in the bathroom - and leaving his And then I'd take it as an invitation to go off and do something fun all evening on my own.

    Good luck, ss!

    I'm with alpinerabbit.

Will he go home and keep thinking and talking about how dirty your place was while he was there? Unlikely.

And even if he does... who cares? Betcha he didn't notice anything (if you did not clean anything).

My partner didn't suggest at all to clean house. He just wanted me to know MAYBE there might be a surprise overnight guest.

Actually my partner would notice an exceptionally messy house. He is much neater/tidier than I.
